Privacy policy

USQRD (“we”, “us”) operates usqrd.com and the Squared newsletter. We build production AI systems for enterprise teams, working from London and Dubai. For anything in this policy, contact daniel@usqrd.com. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.

Email address — newsletter and guide signups. When you subscribe to our newsletter or request a guide (for example the Build vs Buy guide), we collect your email address and, where the form indicates it, the page you signed up from. Lawful basis: consent — you gave us the address for this purpose, and every email we send includes an unsubscribe link.

Email address — assessment and quiz results. If you complete one of our interactive assessments and ask for your results by email, we use your address to send you those results. Lawful basis: performing the thing you asked for. Your quiz answers are kept in your own browser (localStorage) to preserve your progress; they are not stored on our servers.

Usage analytics. We use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to understand aggregate traffic and performance. These are cookieless and do not identify you or track you across sites. Lawful basis: legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used.

Server logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard request logs (IP address, user agent, pages requested) for security and reliability. Lawful basis: legitimate interest in running a secure service.

We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, we do not profile you, and we do not sell or rent personal data to anyone.

We use a small number of service providers to run the site and send email. Each acts under a data-processing agreement and only on our instructions:

• Vercel — website hosting, analytics, and performance monitoring.
• Substack — delivery of the Squared newsletter at squared.usqrd.com. If you subscribe there directly, Substack’s own privacy policy also applies to your account with them.
• MailerLite — delivery of guide downloads and the short follow-up email sequence that comes with them.
• Resend — transactional email delivery for assessment results.

Some of these providers are based in the United States. Where personal data leaves the UK or EEA, the transfer is covered by the provider’s standard contractual clauses or an equivalent recognised safeguard.

Newsletter emails: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete you. Assessment result emails: sent and not reused for marketing unless you also subscribed. Analytics data is aggregate and holds nothing to delete about you individually. Server logs are retained on our hosting provider’s standard short rotation.

Under UK GDPR (and the EU GDPR where it applies to you), you can ask us to access, correct, delete, or export the personal data we hold about you, restrict or object to our processing of it, and withdraw consent at any time — unsubscribing from any email does this for the newsletter. Email daniel@usqrd.com and we will act on it promptly; there is no form to fight through.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk — though we would rather you told us first.

If we change what we collect or who processes it, we will update this page and the effective date above. Material changes to how we handle newsletter data will be flagged in the newsletter itself.
